 Treason

The oil painting depicts a pivotal moment of treason. The central figure, a traitor whose full face remains obscured, is defined solely by his piercing blue eyes, at once profound and empty. This enigmatic gaze invites the viewer to delve into the depths of his soul, to question the motives behind his betrayal.

The artwork is divided into two distinct sections: a dark, ominous wall on one side, and a brighter space on the other. The latter reveals a gathering of people huddled around a flickering fire, their silhouettes illuminated by its warm glow. The distance between the viewer and the group obscures their individual features, emphasizing the collective nature of their gathering.

A blue veil, draped over the traitor's shoulders, connects these two contrasting worlds. It serves as a visual metaphor for the dual nature of the traitor's actions, bridging the darkness of betrayal with the light of faith and community. The artist's intention is to compel the viewer to confront the traitor's gaze and consider their own allegiances. Are they drawn to the darkness of betrayal, or do they find solace in the light of faith and community?
